Hi, I’m Nick.
I’m an author, teacher, and dog parent to my rescue, Peanut. My debut novel is When the Dead Rise, the first book of the upcoming Uvrenmouth universe.
I’ve loved fantasy since I was a kid, and most people will tell you I’m a huge nerd. When lockdown hit, and I couldn’t teach my classes anymore, I decided it was the perfect time to start writing.
Luckily for me, my wife is a book editor, so she helped me turn my draft into an actual horror fantasy book, and I still cannot believe it’s out in the world.
If you love vampires, necromancers, and epic fight scenes (without the dark fantasy romance), my series is for you.

I love fantasy books with immersive worlds, epic quests, and interesting characters — but the dark fantasy genre is filled with romance stories. I found it hard to get recommendations for gritty, horror fantasy stories without the spice, which is why I started this website.
When The Dead Rise is a combination of Lord of the Rings and The Witcher. It’s got dark magic, sarcastic characters, gore, and plenty of battles. And my goal is to curate a hub of dark fantasy books just like mine.
